One of the reasons the Turkey eVisa is so popular with travellers is how little paperwork it actually requires compared to a traditional consular visa. Still, small mistakes on those few details are the single biggest cause of delays. Here is exactly what you need before you start your application, and what you can safely leave at home.

What You Actually Need to Apply

In practice, a Turkey eVisa application comes down to two things:

  • A valid passport, with the details entered exactly as they appear on the document.
  • A valid email address, since your approved eVisa is delivered there — usually within a few hours, and never more than 48 hours.

That is the extent of the official requirement. There is no need for printed photographs, biometric appointments, or an in-person interview, which is what makes the eVisa fundamentally different from a consular visa.

Passport Requirements in Detail

Your passport is the only official document involved, so it deserves extra attention:

  • Validity: most travellers are advised to carry a passport valid for several months beyond their planned stay in Türkiye. Airlines and border officials generally expect at least six months of remaining validity, so check the expiry date before you travel.
  • Matching data: your name, passport number, nationality and date of birth must be entered exactly as printed in your passport. A single mismatched character can cause your application to be queried or delayed.
  • Same document at the border: you must travel with the same passport used on the application, since the eVisa is electronically linked to that passport number.

This is precisely why our team manually reviews every application before it is submitted — passport-detail typos are the most common (and most avoidable) reason an eVisa is delayed or queried.

What About Payment and Travel Details?

You will also need a valid payment card to cover the service fee. While the eVisa application itself does not require proof of a return ticket or hotel booking, Turkish border officials — like those of most countries — can ask to see evidence of onward travel or accommodation, so it is good practice to keep confirmations handy while travelling.

Who Actually Needs to Apply

Not every nationality needs a Turkey eVisa. Check our full list of eligible countries to confirm whether this applies to you before you start gathering documents.
